PGA Fourball at Gullane
After a quick turnaround, we were on the road again earlier this week to the East Coast and Gullane No. 2 . Both my teammate and I were keen for another good showing, and we looked forward to a more settled forecast.
Anything was going to be better than last week, and the 12 degrees with a moderate wind seemed tropical. I almost went sleeveless, but was told I was taking it too far.
On arrival, I got to speak with one of my Pro colleagues who now works for the PGA. A former SPGA Champion and now a Christian, I was keen to get him along to one of our Outreach Days for a Q & A session. He seemed happy to do it, but it will just depend on how his diary looks.
He’s going to get back to me soon, but please pray for this opportunity to work out in the right way.

As we got started, we realised we’d played with our playing partners a couple of years back in a similar event. To that end, I was expecting a bit more conversation to go back and forward but it didn’t really work out that way.
We tended to be on opposite sides of the fairway most times, and any conversation was quite short.
At one point, one of the guys asked me if I knew a Mexican Professional from Cabo, where he had spent the winter on a work placement.
It turns out that Mexican just happened to be my old college Teammate from the 90s. What are the odds?
We did have a bit more chat towards the end of the round due to this, and I have asked if he would like to come to our ProAm in September, to which he was open. A little bonus.
We didn’t score as well as last week, but I felt we played better.
So many putts shaved the hole that on another day, we could have easily been challenging again without doing much differently.
Such fine margins, but the difference in finishing 1st and 11th is such in the game of golf.
As we headed home to beat the Edinburgh rush hour, we had a good chat in the car about life in general, along with what is going on in the Middle East.
We agree that our World is broken, and it won’t be long before it’s at the point of no return.
Until then, we just keep going and trusting that there is a purpose to all this, and the answer will come soon enough.
Normally, we don’t go as in-depth as this, but it was good to go that little bit further with him. Small steps.

We keep going and trusting regardless,
