Golf Breaks GBTG Tour Cawder Golf Course
I was able to gain a slot in the Golf Breaks GBTG Tour at Cawder earlier this week and was looking forward to consolidating what I’d been working on since the SPGA Championship.
The game is in decent shape now, and only improving, so the championship course at Cawder is always a fair test.
I was supposed to be playing in a group of 3, but one of the guys didn’t show up. It ended up just being the 2 of us, I was paired with a young Pro from Gullane who I’d never met before but knew his face.
As we got going, it looked as though the weather was not going to be too pleasant. A brief shower passed after a few holes, and the rest of the round was settled.
This gave us a chance to chat properly during the front 9, and I was able to fully explain my role and faith with LGMS. He didn’t have faith as such, but believed there was something.
As it was quiet on the course, I was able to go into things a bit more in depth, especially the arguments against evolution and the evidence that points to Christianity being the one true faith. He was quite intrigued, and I took his thoughtful response as positive. I pray he looks more into this.

Cawder Golf Course
We were both hovering about the same score of a couple over par going into the last 5 holes, but the 14th and 15th at Cawder are such tough holes that 1 over for these two holes is not a bad score. We got through them without too much damage and eventually stood on the 18th tee a few over.
This is a tee shot I’ve never liked, but it was a chance to see how I’ve improved under a bit of pressure. A long par 3, downhill about 200 yards, and plays about a 6 Iron.
I made the swing I’ve been working on, and the shot was pure. I know I can now really work with this swing, and it was a real blessing.
We both finished on the same score, but I think we enjoyed the game and the company rather than the competition.
I said I’d pop through to Gullane sometime for a coffee, and he was more than happy for that to happen.
I’m glad it was just the two of us playing today, and this gave us a real opportunity to connect. I look forward to catching up with him again.
