Golf Breaks Get Back to Golf Tour at Murrayshall
As part of the Golf Breaks Get Back to Golf Tour, the next event was at Murrayshall in Perth. We’ve played there quite a bit over the past couple of seasons with Tartan Tour events as well as Mini Tours.
Always a very pleasant course to play.
There were 4 of us and I knew all the guys who were playing. Player A had attended Logos Events, Player B had recently played with me and got the lowdown on the Ministry, and Player C did not really know much about what we do so this was an opportunity to share with someone new.
Another very warm day and great to be able to wear shorts to an event.
I’d been able to get a bit more golf in over the past week and found a swing that seemed to be working. Despite a poor first hole,
I kept with it and manage a few birdies to get me back on track. It was around the 6th hole that I got a chance to share my faith.
Player C had asked about work in general, and I managed to explain about our outreach events, past and present. This led to a more in-depth chat about Christianity as he didn’t really have any faith or know anything about it.
Over the next couple of holes, he asked some questions that I was able to answer, and this pretty much explained the Gospel, which was encouraging.
Murrayshall has got some fantastic views across Perth, and as we talked I pointed across the landscape and simply said, “When you look at that it’s hard not to believe we were created.” Nothing was said but there was a thoughtful look.
Heading into the back 9, I chatted a bit with Player B and mentioned to him about our Outreach Day on Friday, hoping he might want to come.
Nothing came of it but maybe in the future, he might be more receptive.
He’s a quiet guy and doesn’t give much away but don’t think it’s an accident we met and will continue to involve him in these events.
We all hit a bit of a lull in the last few holes but there was still some decent golf with 3 birdies and an Eagle on the par 5 15th from the group.
The swings were getting tired though and the heat was having an impact.
Some dropped shots towards the end were disappointing but the standard was better than before with better scores.
Overall, very positive.
The boys dropped me off on the way home and it was a quiet car. I would like to think of a combination of some tiredness and pondering.
I nearly dozed off myself but found a quiet contentment that the Ministry will progress more and more with Gospel truth. Looking forward to Sandyhills on the 9th and reaching those who need it.
We keep going in Faith,
