Logos Golf Ministries ProAm

It was great to get our Logos Golf Ministries Pro-Am up and running finally. Held at Falkirk Tryst Golf Course.
We had only 13 teams; we were still grateful to have over 50 attendees.
With almost 50% of the group being non-believers, this was a great opportunity to share the gospel.

Our shotgun start enabled everyone to play at the same time, which was key to everyone eating and sitting together.

We were blessed with another nice day, and it even developed into short-sleeve weather midway through the round.

I was not supposed to be playing; however, due to a late call-off, I slotted into one of the teams that included a friend I used to play junior golf with. He was one of two non-believers in the group, but I felt it was important not to say much on the course, as I was speaking at the end of the day.

I wanted the guys to feel at ease and enjoy their game, as they would hear the message after lunch, and I felt that was enough.

Our group really enjoyed each other’s company, and the atmosphere was very relaxed as we entered the back 9.
Some really good golf in places, but sadly there were 2 holes that everyone bogeyed, which is a cardinal sin in these events.
Teams cannot drop shots in Pro-Am format and expect to be in contention, so we were fighting against it despite decent play. I was fairly pleased with how my body coped with 18 holes, as this was my first full game back after taking ill.
Energy levels were almost back to normal, and I didn’t feel drained after the final hole. My friend commented that my swing tempo hadn’t changed in the past 30 years, and I’m sure he meant it as a compliment. It does, however, feel much different to me and still a bit loose.

Everyone managed to get back into the clubhouse fairly quickly, and this was perfect for lunch and keeping the day moving.
During food service, my fellow Trustee talked about the background of Logos Golf Ministries along with the origins of the Ryder Cup.
The fact that these two things are linked by a shared background is no accident, and I always enjoy hearing the story.
I was then introduced to share my own story of Logos Golf Ministries and how I came to be standing there and encouraging others to attend days like these.
 
I finished my talk by asking everyone to look at who Jesus was and is.

I simply asked them to consider what it means for all of us that he was who he said he was and lovingly sacrificed himself, exactly as it was written.

I pointed out that the evidence is so compelling that it requires to be looked at, and who would not want to know this man who has the power over life and death?

Despite our numbers being lower than anticipated, I believe we had a successful event with so many non-believers hearing the gospel message. It’s what we are called to do, and we let God do the rest in their hearts. I pray for more events each year so we can do this, and for more individuals who have it in their hearts to host such events at their own clubs.
