PGA 4 Ball at Barassie

PGA Fourball at Barassie

For the final PGA Winter 4 Ball I was playing with a new partner as my usual teammate could not make this one. He has hosted one of our ProAms in the past and has always supported our events so we know each other well.

Before play I got a good opportunity to sit with our 4 ball at breakfast and explained our ProAm at Falkirk Tryst in September. I wanted to invite all of them to the event as I have a relationship with each of them in different ways, and two of them have never been to a Logos event before.
There wasn’t a resounding yes from all parties but we have time to convince them and this was merely planting the seed. I also had a brief chat with one of the Lady professionals playing and although she can’t make it herself due to PGA Cup duties, she will mention to a couple of the other girls so we have a female presence on the Pro front. An encouraging start to the day.

As we got going, one of our playing partners asked me a bit more about what I do and this gave me the chance to explain everything in a bit more detail. I’m not sure he was convinced but I again said it would be good if I could make the ProAm to hear a bit more. There still wasn’t a yes or no.

The West Coast Golf Courses, never seems to be calm these days and another trying day with a strong wind coming off the water.
At least with Barassie you get a good portion of the holes where the wind seems to be helping but still very tricky.
We were hanging in there with a half dozen holes left but missed a couple of shortish putts on the same hole to drop a shot when we really needed to pick one up. In this format you can’t make bogeys and expect to finish anywhere so we made it a little hard for ourselves.
A decent few holes to finish but nowhere near enough birdies to make an impression.

There was a comment from one of our group that I was playing some decent stuff which I was quite surprised about. I felt I played ok but guys who haven’t played with me for a while will probably notice a difference. Not as cohesive as I’d have liked on the day but my bar is higher now so encouraging.
As we finished off and confirmed our scores I again mentioned about the ProAm and said it would be good to have the guys there. I got the response of “If I’m available and in the country then I’ll play”.
That was probably as good as I was getting but I’ll take it. Please pray for those who are not sure about coming to have a clear diary for that day.
