PGA Stableford Dundonald
It’s been a while since I’ve played Dundonald in a competition, but I was really looking forward to the challenge. A top-class venue, and I was also keen to meet up with my playing partners, whom I’d never met before.
After a half hour of practice on the tour standard range, I was pleased to be playing with a couple of younger lads, and it was a beautiful day, albeit a bit chilly.
As we made our introductions, I was immediately able to share a bit of what LGMS is and what events we hold.
This sparked a real interest with one of my partners, and as we walked up the first hole, I was able to share a mini testimony which really engaged him.
Through most of the first 6 holes, we chatted about faith, family background and the evidence for Christianity.
Although he didn’t have a practising faith, I could tell his heart was hungry for truth, and these are the moments we hope for while attending events. A real blessing.

The golf was also enjoyable, but a little bit of a mixed bag for all of us.
Quite a few birdies mixed with several bogeys from the group, but our better ball score would have been a match for any of the others.
As we made our way through the back 9, we had another chance to chat, and my partner, who had engaged earlier, was really eager to help LGMS in any way he could.
He wants to attend the ProAm in September and even bring a group along with him. There was even interest in hosting a day for us at Muckhart, and I was blown away by his enthusiasm. There are no such things as coincidences, and I believe this relationship will bear fruit.
Although I was a couple of shots more than I would have liked, the golf was fairly solid despite a 3-putt here and there.
I really enjoyed the game, and more so the company, and we even chatted a bit after the round, which resulted in us exchanging contact details for future correspondence.
Such an encouraging day and one I was really thankful for. Why on earth do we continue to worry when God is at work?
“Can anyone by worrying add a single hour to your life?” – Matt 6:27
